ABOUT

I'm a playwright, educator, and theatre artist living in Ames, Iowa.  My work explores questions of science, ecology, and climate change.  I enjoy bending, breaking, and blurring boundaries in my writing.   With a background in chemistry, I find interdisciplinary approaches to art and science communication valuable.  As an Iowa native, I am fascinated with the people that inhabit our agro-ecosystem.

I am the founder of Focal Theatre Lab, a collective whose mission is to support new and experimental theatre in the Ames area.   While pursuing my MA in theatre at the university of Missouri, I served as the Managing Director of the Missouri Playwrights Workshop and Mizzou New Play Series, before returning to Iowa State as a Hogrefe Fellow in Creative Writing and pursuing my dual masters in the MFA in Creative Writing and Environment and MS in Sustainable Agriculture.

My work includes Resistance, Decay Chain, Of Madness and the Electric Dream, Dead Silence, Baby I’ll Turn the Sky Green for You, Inheritance, Fission, and {AV:VR:RL}, and has been workshopped or produced at Tallgrass Theatre’s Iowa Playwrights’ Workshop, StageWest Des Moines’ Scriptease, Theatre Cedar Rapids, Focal Theatre Lab, Minnesota Fringe, Scene One Theatre, the Missouri Playwrights’ Workshop, The William Inge Festival, and the Kennedy Center Undergraduate Playwrights Workshop.

Read my plays on New Play Exchange.
